Political Astrology Richard Clarke 30 October 1950 5.45 pm Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The ex Head of Counter Terrorism who’s rocking George Bush’s boat at the moment with his claims that the present US administration were so obsessed with Iraq pre and post 9/11 that they downplayed the Al Quaeda threat has a stalwart Scorpio Sun, close to Mercury and Venus in. So it’s hardly surprising there’s a real sting in his words and formidable determination behind his campaign to bring secrets out into the open. His 6th house Sun makes him a hard and conscientious worker, not an ego maniac at all, and with Uranus trine the Scorpio planets he’ll be a maverick, keen to walk his own path and speak his own truth. Jupiter in Aquarius will lend tolerance, a genuinely humanitarian spirit. In the 10th it will bring increasing respect the older he gets, though won’t put him above grandstanding at times for effect. Jupiter opposes Pluto so he’ll push pass social niceties where necessary to get his way, and with the Sun square Pluto power is a major issue in his life and career. Mars square Saturn is also a hint of a tough character, not easily frightened, who’s learnt to persist in the face of danger. Present Influences: His career went into a nosedive from 2000 onwards as Saturn moved into his first quadrant. He is only now emerging to make his voice heard though it will be 2005 before he moves out into a more prominent work phase. In 2004 Pluto is trine his 4th house Pluto so he is slowly pulling away from a secretive past, finding new ways of relating to authority figures. He also has Uranus trine his 6th house Venus, Mercury and Sun from late February 2004 till late 2005, so he’s rocking the boat, coming across more as a rebel and finding a good deal of relief in stepping out to speak his mind on work related matters. Saturn will conjunct his 2nd house Uranus for the final time in May. This has been running since August 2003 and coincides with a time when powerful forces are unleashed, which brings great tension and release of tension, and there is a need to escape oppressive situations. It will impact on his financial situation greatly. Saturn then squares Neptune in July which will cause him some concern. The years after 2006 when Pluto moves into his 8th for a decade and Pluto squares his Saturn (2007) will be heavy going, trapped, secretive. Richard Clarke & G.W. Bush: His composite with the President has a bleak Moon Saturn Pluto conjunction so there’s no love lost there. A Jupiter trine Pluto also hints at a touch of one-upmanship between them, both vying for control. The tensions between them have been simmering since Bush took office in 2000 with both Pluto and Saturn then square their composite Sun. The rift between them probably started coming to a head as Saturn was conjunct the joint Uranus in October 2002 and again May 2003. In 2004 Neptune in transit opposes Pluto on the composite in April, May, June so no doubt there will be more smear tactics and perhaps more ammunition from Clarke’s side. Maybe also a hint that Clarke’s book is beginning to really undermine Bush’s credibility. Saturn squares Neptune on the composite late June, which will produce more dissatisfaction. Uranus trines Mars late October to late November so sparks will still be flying over election time. Clarke & Bush Adminstration: . What is really interesting is Clarke’s composite to the Bush Administration chart. Here a Sun, Neptune, Mars conjunction describes a relationship where one side winning makes the other side feel as if it’s losing. And Pluto by transit is now entering the composite 8th which could be seen as a power struggle over confidential information with very destructive consequences for the relationship and both sides – Bush’s election prospects on the one hand and Clarke being character assassinated on the other. The Bush Admin chart itself has an unsavoury Moon Pluto conjunction in the 8th describing accurately what John Dean (Nixon’s White House counsel) has called a ‘truly scary administration.’ ‘They have created the most secret presidency of my lifetime, far worse than Watergate.’
