Political Astrology Condoleezza Rice 14 November 1954. 11.37 am (unconfirmed) Birmingham, Alabama
ASTRO HEADLINES: [Input November 2004] Condoleezza Rice’s elevation to Colin Powell’s Secretary of State position will not turn out to be an easy or successful career step for her. She starts with Neptune squaring Saturn in December 2004. This usually accompanies a disorientating sense of panic with multiple concerns. This is the start of Neptune moving round her fixed T square which will over coming years bring a sense of dissolving ambitions and capabilities, low motivation and lack of success. It will worsen in 2005 from March as Neptune conjuncts Mars which will bring a sense of failure, plans not working out. Neptune will make more direct hits to her T square in 2007 to 2010. Saturn is conjunct her Uranus through November 2004 which will produce a tremendous jolt in her career, perhaps with some health overtones. These influences return in June & July 2005 as Saturn also moves on to conjunct Jupiter, which will damp her exuberance, perhaps cause financial concerns, and make her feel her luck has run out. Mid November to mid December 2004, and again August and September 2005 Pluto squares her Jupiter/Saturn midpoint which often coincides with major career changes and upsets. Condoleezza Rice Chart: Whether the birth time is accurate or not, her chart is dominated by a fearsomely determined, secretive and stubborn T square of Mars in Aquarius opposition Pluto in Leo square Saturn, Sun, Venus in Scorpio. To dismantle it into its component parts – the Mars Pluto opposition makes her ruthless, ambitious for power, resentful and vengeful if crossed. Mars in Aquarius is highly independent and thoroughly dislikes outside interference. Saturn in Scorpio is obsessive about work, overly conscientious, with a tendency to plot and scheme. The Scorpio Sun close to Venus on the point of a T square is superficially charming, but is essentially ego-centric, demanding of attention and appreciation, wilfully resistant to outside influence, and highly obstinate. Four planets in Scorpio give her a real sting, and again emphasise a vengeful streak. She’ll be very self sufficient and motivated, allowing nothing to stand in the way of her goals. But she needs to learn adaptability. Her chart lacks mutable planets so she is unable to fit in with changing circumstances or to co-operate actively. She expects everyone around and the world to fit round her needs and aims. Her chart is overwhelmingly water/air, lacking in fire and earth. So she is highly emotional, rather volatile, but does have an ability to stand back at times to be detached. She will lack practical skills, including common sense at times, have little sense of her body’s needs, and also never feel life is ever quite to be trusted. A lucky Jupiter Cancer conjunction probably close to her Moon will have brought her fortunate breaks along the way, sudden travel, a love for her childhood home and family. Though squaring onto Neptune in Libra, she will be highly strung, prone to irrtational judgements which she will stick to through thick and thin, despite all evidence to the contrary. If her birth time is accurate then a strong (five planets) 9th house indicates accurately her love of higher learning and interest in foreign countries. Mars in Aquarius in the 1st will make her abrasive, over direct, not much concerned with appearances. Pluto in the 7th will make her intense where close relationships are concerned, provoking strong reactions from other people – either adoration or dislike. Her sixth house Jupiter, ranus, Moon in Cancer in the 6th will bring a varied working life with many changes but also good team relationships. Her health will to some degree be tied into her career. Moon’s Node in Capricorn hints at a need in this lifetime to develop her masculine skills. It falls in the 12th so she’ll shy away from any inner introspection or attempt to understand her own psychology. Condi Rice & G.W. Bush : This is a tough minded, working partnership with Mars square Pluto on the composite as well as Sun conjunct Saturn. There is a good deal of fear implict in this link, with a tendency to cause confrontation together out in the world, rather than compromise. The Saturnine nature of their contact makes play or relaxation together difficult. Though a Moon Jupiter conjunction and a Venus Neptune conjunction may provide a balance. Their relationship has been under a good deal of pressure in 2004 as Pluto squared Saturn up to mid October, creating a bleakness in their interchanges, a sense of having to withstand heavy pressures. Pluto also squares Mercury mid November to mid December 2004; and again August and September 2005, which will bring intense discussions, perhaps bitter confrontations.
