Present Influences
His mood running into his marriage to long time mistress Camilla Parker Bowles does not, it would have to be said, look ecstatic. His Solar Return for the year from birthday November 2004 to birthday November 2005 suggests close relationships and duty are tied together with Saturn in the 7th, so commitment feels like an effort or is forced on him. With a Moon Pluto conjunction in the 12th also in his SR he feels trapped, and is keeping his feelings, especially about his mother, to himself. Their relationship [see below] is edgy, irritable and frustrating on both sides from late February to mid April. Resentment will bubble out into the open.
On the broad sweep Saturn is the key influence moving through his 12th house until September 2005 which will make him seriously question whether he wishes to continue in his present career and lifestyle. Old ambitions will fade and his energy and motivation will be low. When Saturn moves into his 1st house in May 2006, having hovered backwards and forwards over his ascendant for a few months previously, he will want to withdraw into a more peaceful existence, out of the public eye. Neptune is also moving through his 7th house until 2010 making him question his commitment to close partners and agreements in general. Uranus is transitting his 8th until 2008 bringing secrets out in the open, sudden emotional and financial changes and feelings of psychological instability. And Uranus in February 2005 finished eighteen months of opposing his second house Saturn which would have caused financial upheavals and upsets. Saturn will also by transit come to square his 10th house Moon in July 2005 making him feel shut out in the cold, under appreciated by the women in his life and by the public. Into 2006 Saturn will conjunct his Pluto, making him feel chained and stuck, and then square his Sun which is always a dampener. One note of cheer comes from Jupiter in his 4th from September 2005 to September 2007 which will bring more contentment at home. Pluto coming up to oppose his Uranus in 2008 will cause a major revolution in his hopes and aims for the future, as well as altering his relationship with his friends and children. At that point Saturn will be into his second house so he will be at a low ebb and at his most reclusive.
Charles & Camilla
His relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, while positive in many respects and comforting to both, also has its awkward side. With Saturn Pluto and Venus together in Leo in the composite it was always a match destined to face both external and internal barriers. There is a toughness here, which gives an enduring quality to face outside resistance. But there is also a coldness, mixed in with possessiveness, a sense by both that they are trapped by circumstances beyond their control. Though the truth is this is part of the internal dynamic of their chemistry together as personalities. 2004 and 2005 were destined to be years of heavy pressure, as major changes were put or forced slowly into place. Pluto has been trine Saturn on the composite which does not bring a light hearted mood. This started in early 2004, returned over Christmas and New Year, then returns late June till early August and late September to early November 2005. It will not be an exuberant time. From early 2005 as well Pluto is square the joint Sun, which will start a process of transforming the relationship, taking down old structures. It will not be easy making the adjustments necessary to a changed way of life in a committed marriage with additional public duties for Camilla. This runs on till early December 2005.
In recent years both Prince Charles and Camilla have been in a separate personal process of re-evaluating what they really want from their closest one-to-one relationship. Charles had Neptune conjunct the Sun/Moon midpoint in 2003 which would undermine his commitment. Camilla had Saturn conjunct her Sun/Moon midpoint in 2004, which would bring a feeling of separation. Both have Neptune transitting their 7th which is makes outright commitment tricky. There is a suspicion that both might by choice have opted for leaving things the way they were. What should bring some relief is Uranus square Jupiter which picks up mid March 2005 and runns on and off until early 2006. [See Camilla}
Although later in 2005 Saturn starts to conjunct the composite Pluto and then Saturn in Leo and into 2006 is also conjunct Venus, which will feel stuck, overly serious and separated in turns. The initial stages of the long awaited marriage will not be warm and smooth running. From early 2006 as well Pluto opposes the composite Uranus which will cause upsets and upeheavals, totally transforming their hopes and goals for the longer term, as well as profoundly altering their friendship circle. Into 2007 Uranus conjuncts the composite Mars which will bring a sense of high insecurity, impatience and ill natured outbursts or reckless decisions.
Prince Charles and the Queen
This is not an easy relationship with major power and control issues between them, too little emotional warmth and a need for a great deal of space and personal freedom on both sides. It is inherently an unstable relationship which is locked into an unwilling commitment through duty and circumstance. Across the wedding in spring of 2005 Saturn will be conjunct Mercury bringing communication barriers and criticism, as well as conjunct the composite Mars which will bring high levels of irritation and frustration to both sides. Their relationship will be at a low ebb from mid June to mid July 2005 as Saturn conjuncts Jupiter and then opposes Pluto. Pluto in transit will also continue to oppose the joint Moon as it did in 2004 through August and September 2005, which will create strong emotional strains, perhaps bitterness and resentment.
PRINCE CHARLES CHART:
A complex, hidden Scorpio with a strong sporting streak and desire for absolute privacy, the heir to the British Throne does not have an easy chart. Pluto in the 1st, a signifier of his caesarean birth, makes him highly defended, resistant to feedback and difficult to fathom. Pluto squaring his Sun and widely square his Taurus Moon have given him a sense that he is always under another’s control, a pawn to his parents rather than an individual. This has made him chippy, resentful, obsessive, sometimes contemptuous. He is tremendously stubborn with a staying power that does not easily give way. He is capable of revealing hidden fundamental truths but will always run into opposition from others, stirring up hostility and intolerance.
The Sun and Mercury in intense Scorpio plus Venus and Neptune in sociable, elegant Libra all congregate at the foot of his chart hinting at a strong need to create a beautiful, secure home for himself in adult life. Family lineage is important to his self esteem but he needs to feel in charge of his own household. Neptune in the 4th describes his life long conflict between family and personal identity. He feels he has to sacrifice much for the sake of family unity and duty, but in the process feels less of a person. Sexuality is important to his life being a Scorpio with an emphasised Pluto, but it is an area where he over controls and find spontaneity difficult. Through his life he has sought older male figures whom he could respect, admire and love as a substitute for his own biological father, whom he sees as weak, less than a man (Neptune), as well as being over dominant (Pluto).
His tenth house Taurus Moon suits him for a public, caring career either in politics or where he feels he can gain emotional comfort from being of use. But the Moon’s Node close by also suggest a lack of direction, a tendency to slide back into his private retreat, rather than forge a significant role in the outer world for himself. An exuberant Mars Jupiter conjunction in Sagittarius provides a counter balance to his depressive, reclusive tendencies. He comes alive when involved in adventurous sporting activities. With Uranus opposite, he thrives on the edge of danger, can be reckless, adores travelling to exotic places. He gets on well with children when they share similar interests. Mars Jupiter also send him out on crusades, promoting his pet causes with vigour, though he can be unrealistic and at times self justifying. With Saturn in Virgo in the 2nd he is meticulous about money, sometimes mean.
