Oprah Winfrey isn''t having the easiest year, well last year as well, with tr Neptune square her Mars and opposition her Pluto which is undermining and panicky. And exactly at the moment she also has tr Uranus trine her Mars in Scorpio which is insecure and edgy. Plus tr Saturn exactly square her enthusiastic Jupiter in Gemini putting a damper on her normally high spirits.
She was abused as a child herself which is in part reflected in that natal Pluto square Mars in Scorpio - a ruthlessness acted out sexually is one way of looking at its effects. On the birth time I have for her (4.30 am) relocated to Johannesburg it puts Pluto in the 4th with Mars and Saturn in the 7th so it is an area of the world which would tend to bring up her worst fears. Which are also being sparked off anyway by those tricky Neptune and Uranus transits to Mars.
She''ll bounce back next year once she''s cleared these rather debilitating influences. While it is tough on her, she''s also the best person to be tackling the problem of abuse which is rampant in South Africa and elsewhere. Maybe her karma to take the lead and speak out.

Just on the subject of multiply-adopting US showbiz types Mia Farrow probably holds the record with 4 natural and 11 adopted children. Like Madonna and Angelina Jolie she has difficult Moon aspects with her Capricorn Moon opposition Saturn square Neptune opp Venus. So again a childhood where she felt cut off (Saturn) from the more maternal influences. Plus Pluto in the 4th suggests a childhood family home where there was a good deal of tension, indeed fear about ran below the surface.
So another one trying to fill their own emotional gaps with a multi-cultural family.

The Spandau Ballet comeback tour is due to start in Dublin on 13 Oct 2009. Tony Hadley is pretty upbeat this year with tr Pluto conjunct his Jupiter, exact on the start date, which is successful, good for confidence and money. Gary Kemp is not in such a great year with tr Neptune trine his Mars and Sun/Mars so feeling a bit limp; plus tr Pluto is conjunct his Saturn so he may feel it to be a real slog and not really what he wants. Steve Norman has also got the lucky tr Pluto conjunct his Jupiter thro'' 09/10 so sees success around but with tr Neptune conjunct his Mars is also panicky about failures and low energy at times.
Marlon Brando - Neptuning out From: Marjorie. (12 Feb 2009 16:32): Marlon Brando as you might expect had an extraordinary chart. He was an Aries New Moon trine Neptune in Leo trine Jupiter in Sagittarius which is a Fire Grand Trine so he had inspiration, energy, unshakeable self confidence and was probably quite arrogant. Not always realistic but always go ahead. His New Moon in the 5th is very much a dramatic placing, indicating someone who liked to be centre stage. Jupiter in his 1st is confident and outgoing.
What gave him more than a tinge of tragedy and darkness in his life was Mars in Capricorn in the 2nd opposition an 8th house Pluto squaring onto his Aries New Moon. Mars Pluto does bring associations with the darker side of life, sometimes criminal behaviour. It can be ruthless and over forceful and can attract the same energy. It''s accentuated being connected into that 8th house Pluto so at some level he''d always feel trapped by life and fate, controlled by circumstances he did not understand and couldn''t influence. Often 8th house planets refer back to the grandparent level. Brando''s father had been abandoned by his mother who was a gambler and alcoholic; and indeed Brando''s mother was also an alcoholic.
As to Tahiti, it doesn''t really show up that strongly on the astrocartography which is odd since you''d imagine it would - unless the birth time is out. Relocating his chart there certainly takes Pluto out of the 8th into the 9th and puts his Saturn in Scorpio on the ascendant - so it would give him a sense of being shut off from the world which was perhaps what he wanted. On Local Horizon his Neptune line goes through Tahiti which is spiritual though also confusing, a place for meditation and illusions, a place to sleep and unwind. He did have a highly stressed chart and a great deal of anguish so maybe Neptune just spaced him out there away from all his woes - but they still came with him.

Rihanna, the Barbados-born singer, didn''t appear at the Grammy Awards after an alleged violent incident involving her boyfriend R&B singer Chris Brown, who has been dropped from sponsorship ads after being let out on bail. Both are of the late 1980s Uranus, Saturn, Neptune conjunction in Capricorn which is beginning to feel the disruptive influence of transitting Pluto moving across these planets for some years ahead.
Rihanna is a Sun Pisces sextile Mars (in late Sag) and Sun sextile Uranus and Saturn so is a mix of sensible (Saturn), feisty (Mars) and rebellious (Uranus). Her Moon is in Aries along with Venus and Jupiter so she''s fairly upfront about what she feels and what she wants.
He is a New Moon and Venus in Taurus opposition Pluto in Scorpio so is controlling, stubborn, not one to give way in a hurry. He also has an excitable Mars in Cancer opposition Uranus and Neptune (widely Saturn) - so is usually on a fairly short fuse.
Their relationship chart has a Sun, Mercury opposition Mars square Uranus, Saturn (& Neptune) - so it was always a tinderbox waiting to spark. There''s a good deal of anger in here, with a strenuous need not to be cornered or have either side''s freedom interfered with. Transitting Pluto is exactly on the focal point composite Uranus at the moment - hence a major amount of upheaval; having just come off the square to the composite Mars last month so was a pressure cooker waiting to blow off steam.

A sobering morality tale for our tawdry and often cruel celebrity culture is being played out at the moment in the UK media which is following closely the possibly terminal illness of Jade Goody. For non-UK watchers, she came to prominence on the Big Brother reality show out of a dire background with a drug addict, criminal father and a junkie mother, little education and no social graces. She made millions thereafter with her own TV shows and merchandising and then blotted her copybook by making racist remarks on a later Big Brother to Indian actress Shilpa Shetty, though Goody herself is of mixed race. She then was told live on air on the Indian Big Brother that she was suffering from cancer. She has agreed to be filmed through her treatment to earn money for her sons. It is now thought her chances are slim with the cancer having spread fairly aggressively. She''s 27 and now back with her present partner just out of prison.
I was wondering what she said about the UK - or put it another way - what is it she symbolises which has been a prominent part of the UK psyche which is undergoing painful treatment and may have to be let go?
She''s a Gemini Sun trine Pluto widely opposition Neptune - a hint of her controlling though uncommitted father; which makes her chatty, vague and evasive at times but pushy at others. She also has an argumentative Mars in Gemini trine Saturn Jupiter in Libra sextile a Moon''s North Node in Leo. It is this latter configuration which keys into the UK chart. Her Leo NNode which does have leadership potential and is often a rags to riches story is less than a degree from the UK 10th house Jupiter in Leo - which combination Sakoian and Acker describe as: favourable for prevailing cultural trends, public relations and current fads. Which definitely fits. Her Saturn Jupiter in Libra is also conjunct the UK 12th house Uranus which is being heavily pressured at the moment by a transitting square from Pluto. That is more difficult to quantify though she clearly stirs something deep in the UK unconscious which produces highly ambivalent responses both positive (Jupiter) and negative (Saturn).
The UK Uranus is natally quincunx (150 degrees) from Pluto, so the present transitting Pluto is also sextile the UK Pluto. This is one full zodiac sign on from the death of Princess Diana which occurred in 1997 when tr Pluto was square the UK Pluto and sextile the UK Uranus. And that certainly stirred the deeper levels of the UK''s emotional undercurrent.
Not that Jade Goody is remotely similar to Princess Di - except that both are from dysfunctional backgrounds, both have two adored children and in some ways both are/were a face of the celebrity culture - both had/have Jup Sat conjunctions, fairly wide in Princess Di''s case - which can point to flying too high to be cut down young a la Icarus. Both have the smell of tragedy around them. Princess Di was a Sun, Mercury in Cancer conjunct the UK midheaven; and Jade Goody has Venus, Mercury perhaps Moon in Cancer. Princess Di''s Mars in Virgo opposed the UK Pluto and Jade Goody''s Mars squares it. The UK 5th house Pluto lacks major aspects - apart from 150 to Uranus and 135 to the Cancer Moon - so will act fairly erratically.
Sorry this is a bit of a ramble but there is something in there. I hasten to add I''m not writing Jade Goody off since new treatments may work though it does not look good.

Usually when major happenings occur in a life it isn''t just because of one influence but possibly three or more all piling in at once. With certain temperaments one influence may be strong enough to tip the balance but usually there needs to be sufficient critical mass from several to make the difference.
In Whitney Houston''s case she''s had several things going on since her heady success of the 1980s and most of the 1990s after which she appeared to fall into a dark hole which coincided with her marriage to Bobby Brown which has now ended.
1. Saturn was rising by transit in her chart in the 1980s towards her midheaven reaching its peak in 1987 where it stayed till 1994. This is high profile, high ambition and success time. From 1994 it moved into her 1st quadrant which is most often a lower profile time of several years. It sometimes takes a while to kick in especially with public figures but when Saturn hits the 2nd house, in her case in 1997, it does being to show. Saturn in the 1st quadrant really wants to move back from the ego and give the inner life a chance to develop, so it''s often a time when unresolved psychological issues surface to be sorted. Saturn is now on the rise again above her Descendant for the next 14 years so it should be easier to get her act together.
2. Transitting Uranus went into her 12th house in 1997 which can be an emotionally and psychologically difficult few years. It emerged into freedom in her 1st in 2006 when she got divorced.
3. Her Solar Arc Mars has been moving its way round a tricky fixed T square she has in her chart of Sun Venus in Leo opposition Saturn square an 8th house Neptune in Scorpio, bouncing of all three ends of that from 1997 to 2006. Neptune in Scorpio in the 8th may well be what gives her that transcendentally wonderful voice and ability to project such a powerful image. But it is also addictive-prone and at some level acutely lonely. At a soul level she is searching for a connection she can never quite reach. SA Mars cleared the end of those aspects when she divorced in 06. And it moved out of her 8th house in 2008 which would free up energy.
4. Transitting Pluto also crossed her midheaven in 2003 which was maybe her wake up call which said your career needs re-booted.

Christian Bale rant From: Marjorie. (07 Feb 2009 11:19): Another foot-in-mouth story has just emerged onto the net involving actor Christian Bale for his on-set rant at a technician during the filming of Terminator last July. Must be the Saturn Uranus opposition bringing all the tensions and unwise comments out into the open at the moment. Bale is a lucky Sun Jupiter in Aquarius with Mercury in Aquarius (and Jupiter) trine Saturn in Gemini and Uranus in Libra - so he''s very airy, up-in-his-head. More importantly his Sun also trines Pluto and along with Jupiter squares Mars in Taurus. It will give him confidence, at times too much so, and a good deal of drive, as well as at times a fairly short fuse.
His Moon is either late Aries or early Taurus. If into Taurus it squares his Sun so he''ll be perpetually in two minds about what he wants. Into early Taurus as well his Moon would therefore conjunct Mars giving him an even shorter fuse. Also his Uranus in late Libra almost certainly opposes his Moon squaring onto Venus in Capricorn suggesting hair trigger feelings.
He had a well documented spat with his family last July as well so was clearly very much on edge. At the time I wrote: "He is under a fair amount of pressure at the moment with Pluto opposing his Saturn from now - late July till late October and that''s been running for the past 18 months - so its been a punishing time for him. Though also helpful since hard aspects to the leg of a Grand Trine helps activate its rather stuck energy. And indeed transitting Pluto would therefore be forming another lucky Kite onto the Grand Trine. His Tertiary Progressions also have strong Mars aspects which will bring up angry feelings and give rise to impatience."
His natal Aquarius Sun square Mars in Taurus was also very rattled by the late Jan 09 Solar Eclipse which is perhaps why it comes out into the open at the moment.

Two Brit TV types in trouble for putting their foot in their mouths this week are Carol Thatcher and Jeremy Clarkson, the Top Gear presenter.
Carol Thatcher, Maggie''s daughter, is a controlling and determined Sun Pluto in Leo (like Princess Anne) which in CT''s case is emphasised on the point of a mini grand trine to a Jupiter trine Saturn Neptune (maybe Moon) in Libra. She seems a jolly hockey sticks, never quite grown up personality in the shadow of her twin brother Mark, her mother''s favourite. She also has an argumentative, outspoken Mercury Mars conjunction in Leo which the recent Solar Eclipse was opposing which might have made her more impatient and mouthy than usual. Plus the transitting NNode is heading for her Nodal Return within weeks which is always a stop and evaluate time. She has been banished from the BBC which was never a good fit for her since the BBC''s Scorpio Sun square Neptune in Leo clash uncomfortably with her Sun Pluto. She has been sagging over the past 18 months with an undermining tr Neptune opposition her Sun and Pluto. Tr Saturn has been square her Jupiter damping her enthusiasm and that returns again mid 09.
For what it''s worth, despite all the complaints that she shouldn''t have been fired, I reckon calling a black footballer a golliwog is well over the line - in a joke? What''s funny about it? She''s old enough and should be media-savvy enough to know better.
Jeremy Clarkson, however, who is blissfully and wittily politically incorrect, I''ll forgive for calling Gordon Brown a ''one eyed Scottish idiot'' on an Australian lecture tour. Not exactly tasteful but factually accurate. Clarkson is a brash Aries with an independent minded trine to Uranus in Leo. He''s got an impatient, forceful Mars Pluto opposition like Rush Limbaugh but JC''s Mars is softened being in Pisces and is well aspected to Jupiter in Capricorn and Neptune in Scorpio. He should do well for the next couple of years with transitting Pluto conjunct his Jupiter - financially and success-wise.

Natalie Wood was a radiantly beautiful actress who managed the transition from child to adult star and then drowned aged 43 in mysterious circumstances. She had the most horrific mother imaginable with a Sun, Mars, Pluto conjunction Cancer in the 10th - controlling, very forceful, the ultimate nightmare of a stage mother who pushed her into acting aged 4. Her mother according to legend told her to remember the day her dog was killed by a truck to evoke emotions for a film scene; and she also lied to young Natalie about a film scene where a footbridge over rapids had been rigged to fail - she fell in with cameras rolling and could have been drowned, leaving her with a lifelong fear of water. The Mars Pluto mother is deadly. As if that wasn''t enough her 7th house Saturn in Aries (= forced early to be self reliant) is in a wide square to her Sun (Mars Pluto) so nothing she did was ever enough. Life was exceptionally cruel to her. She did have a sugary sweet Jupiter in Pisces opposition Venus so could turn on the smiles to cue but basically she was very tortured. And an 8th house Uranus trine a 12th house Neptune would do nothing to give her equilibrium being very highly strung.
When she died in the early hours of 29th Nov 1981 the transitting Saturn Pluto conjunction was moving through her 1st house pushing her deeper into her emotional issues and away from career ambitions. The tr Sat Pl had just finished opposing her natal Saturn and would soon be square her 10th house Sun, Mars, Pluto which is very heavy duty, deeply depressing, highly stressful and really pole axing. I doubt she''d have survived the next two years even if she had not drowned, presumably accidentally. There was little happening on her Solar Arc directions vis a vis her natal chart - thro transitting Saturn was conjunct her SA Venus and tr Jupiter was conjunct her SA Neptune and opposition her natal Moon - which suggest emotional separation but also perhaps a merciful release.
Robert Wagner, whom she married twice, doesn''t have an easy chart being part of the Saturn opp Pluto Moon square Uranus generation - so used to very tough times and difficult emotional relationships with women. Plus he was a Sun, Venus in Aquarius so fairly detached. There''s almost no cross over in their chart - he certainly had a Cancer Moon but not conjunct Natalie''s Cancer Sun. His Sun squared Natalie''s 8th house Uranus and Natalie''s Moon squared his Mars - so it was hardly a meeting of souls. Their relationship chart has a cool Saturn Venus square (= work getting in the way), an argumentative Mercury opposition Mars Uranus - nothing much that sounds like deep affection. Though she''d probably not be capable of really accessing her feelings because of her mother. And he is pretty battened down as well.
Like Natalie, his chart didn''t have much going on directly at the time of her death from transits - though it was a heavy time in his life with the tr Sat Pluto just off the square to his 8th house Pluto - so tremendous financial and psychological pressures. Tr Pluto was just off a conjunction to his SA Neptune so the previous months would have been devastating. Tr Uranus is opp his SA Uranus suggesting a definite jolt and break with the past. Tr Uranus had just crossed the conjunction to their composite Venus which would have pulled them apart emotionally over the previous months as well.
Christopher Walken, on the boat himself that night, is a vague, creative Sun in Aries opposition Neptune, with a controlling trine to Pluto and an assertive sextile to Mars in Aquarius. His Jupiter in Cancer which is kindly disposed may have calmed Natalie''s raging 10th house Cancer planets somewhat and his Venus was widely conjunct her Taurus Moon which is comforting. But her Saturn in Aries blocked out his Aries Sun and his Saturn squared her Venus so I''d doubt there was much going on there - tho'' she did evidently have a tendency to flirt with danger, not surprising with Sun, Mars, Pluto in her 10th - but I''d doubt there was much going on there.
It is odd how with so many of these truly beautiful women - Mars Pluto seems to show up strongly in their charts. As if fear and an inner ugliness in their circumstances somehow produces an appearance of the exact opposite.

Bjork, the Icelandic singer, song writer, composer and producer is a Sun Neptune in Scorpio with a Scorpio Moon as well (not conjunct) which does make for powerful intensity. On this birth time she has the revolutionary Uranus Pluto conjunction exactly conjunct her midheaven which makes sense of a singer who is constantly pushing the boundaries, has an extraordinarily wide and at times eccentric range of musical styles. She has a passionately enthusiastic Mars Venus in Capricorn in the 3rd opposition Jupiter in Gemini in the 9th - so is communicative, adventurous, keen on making money but not always practical.
Her career should be moving into a more ambitious phase with tr Saturn into her upper quadrant for the next six years, perhaps taking on a more executive producing role. Though she''ll have a few blips along the way with Solar Arc Mars square her Neptune in 2009 which is rather undermining and panicky; with more of the same when her Solar Arc Neptune conjuncts her Mars in 2010 - with tr Neptune square her Sun at the same time. In four years time her Solar Arc Uranus Pluto start to conjunct her 12th house Moon which will cause some emotional upheavals for a couple of years.

Eddie Izzard, back doing stand up comedy in London after his US TV series The Riches was cancelled, is a maverick Aquarian with an extraordinary six planets in Aquarius. He has a sunny, charming, chatty, lucky Venus, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury conjunction in Aquarius - which is a sign often associated with comedians - Jimmy Tarbuck, Jimmy ''Scnozzle'' Durante, Ned Sherrin, Michael Bentine, Barry Humphries, Les Dawson amongst others. Izzard also has a tougher Mars Saturn conjunction in Aquarius giving him self discipline (Mars Sat) and a sharp, bright mind (Sat in Aq) with a stalwart determination to go his own way without interference (Mars in Aq). Another Jupiter Neptune pops up in the news as actress Winona Ryder is met in London off the LA plane by ambulances after the pilot requested a priority landing. She was taken to hospital but released an hour later. She''s a talented though troubled actress with an admitted drug problem and a shoplifting charge on her record from 2001. She has an intense Scorpio Sun possibly trine a Pisces Moon so is very emotional. Her secretive though charming Mercury, Venus conjunction also in Scorpio squares an uncompromising Mars in Aquarius. She reportedly dislikes publicising her movies and is not a lady to change her mind. Her Saturn in Gemini opposes a Jupiter Neptue conjunction making her quite a see saw personality, very scared of failure (Jup Sat), slightly paranoid (Sat Nep), prone to flights of fancy (Jup Nep). Her Saturn trines Pluto giving her grit; her Jupiter sextiles Uranus making her lucky. She''s an add mix of deeply serious and quite flim flam. This year her Solar Arc Uranus is on her Venus making for an emotionally upsetting time.

Joaquin Phoenix, the actor - Johnny Cash in Walk the Line, Caesar in the Gladiator - has announced he is quitting movies for the music business. He is a passionately intense, highly emotional Sun, Venus, Mars in Scorpio with a lucky trine to Jupiter in Pisces so he tends to throw himself wholeheartedly into whatever he is doing. He doesn''t have an especially emphasised Neptune in his chart except for a square to Jupiter so his resolution to give up Hollywood may not last the course. He did have an undermining year in 07 with his Solar Arc Sun conjunct his Neptune but as that fades and Pluto moves across a sextile of Mars, Venus and then his Sun in the next three years he''ll be getting a grip of what he really wants to do.
He is the younger brother of actor, River Phoenix, who died tragically of an accidental drug overdose when only 23. River''s chart shows more obviously his problematic childhood raised by hippy parents in the Children of God cult, abused sexually when very young (no doubt very religiously) and working as a street entertainer as a child to support his family in South America. Hhis chart has a Moon Saturn in Taurus opposition Neptune in Scorpio square a Mars in Leo conjunction with the Sun in Virgo - which suggests a cold mother and father with the Saturn Neptune Mars hinting at a less than healthy atmosphere as he grew up. When he died in 1993 in Hollywood transitting Saturn was exactly opposition his focal point Mars (23 Leo) which is a sharp reality check; and tr Mars and Pluto were also square his Mars which is angry, frustrated and high risk with Solar Arc Jupiter also exactly square Mars which may have been what pushed him to excess. So there was a huge pressure from the dangerous transitting Mars Pluto square Saturn exactly aspecting his central and very unhappy Saturn Moon opp Neptune square Sun Mars T square.
It may be entirely a coincidence but his brother Joaquin who was with him when he died has his Solar Arc Saturn at 23 Leo this year as he announces his retirement from acting, not aspecting his own natal chart but perhaps somehow resonating to a beat which hints that a change of direction would be good.

Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand are chalk and cheese - totally different kinds of personalities. Ross has a tranche of Scorpio planets plus Capricorn so is water and earth. Brand is Air and Fire with Gemini and Aries prominent. Gemini and Scorpio both like to walk on the wild side but it''s not a match made to last. What the composite indicates is that they goad each other on into unwise adventures (Mars square Jupiter), for the sake of publicity (Mars opp Neptune) in an exaggerated way (Jupiter opp Mercury) that is impulsive (Mars square Mercury) and unwise (Mercury square Neptune). But that Mars Neptune which is very prominent in their relationship chart in a Grand Square suggests a subtle ego-clash - when one wins the other feels diminished and vice versa. With a Saturn Venus conjunction in the composite it''s a cool, relationship emotionally, more business than pleasure. And there''s a fair amount of envy in there, so they may just have been trying to outdo each other when it came to the silly prank - but that''s what Managements are there for to drag the creative talent back from the brink which clearly didn''t happen.
Ross more obviously fits with the BBC since his Sun is conjunct the BBC Sun and falls in the BBC 5th and his Mercury Neptune conjunct is conjunct the BBC 5th house Mercury Jupiter. It is creaking and groaning slightly under a variety of influences in 08/09 but nothing catastrophically major.

The BBC has seen another senior head roll as the popular, successful Controller of BBC Radio 2, Lesley Douglas, resigns over the furore about the Brand/Ross lewd phone call (see posting below Oct 28). While the offensive programme item was undoubtedly a mistake and a management failure, it was also brewed up into a storm in a tea cup by the right wing media.
What is interesting astrologically is the BBC chart which has a wide fixed T square of Mars and Midheaven in Aquarius opposition Neptune square Scorpio Sun. Tr Neptune has been wending its debilitating way round that T square since 2002 leading onto a rolling series of very public crises in the Corporation.
In 2003 the Hutton Inquiry Report into the death of Dr David Kelly in the aftermath of the Iraq Attack and accusations that Tony Blair had ''sexed up'' documents on Saddam Hussein''s weapons of mass destruction was being conducted as transitting Neptune was conjunct the BBC''s Mars. This is usually a sign of panic and failure. And it did indeed on publication lead (due to a failure of nerve in the Management Board) to the resignation of the popular and talented Greg Dyke, the Director General, and the Chairman of the Board of Governors to much internal dismay amongst the staff. The BBC chart has the final undermining transitting square of Neptune to its Scorpio Sun at the moment till mid December. That Neptune transit lasting about 18 months picked up from July 2007 when a misleading promo suggesting the Queen stormed out of a photo shoot, led to the resignation of the BBC 1 Controller Peter Fincham. The BBC will bounce back with Pluto sextile its Jupiter in 2010/11 but it''s mired in a swamp at the moment.

A quirky story today suggested that AC DC''s re-entry into the pop charts was another recession significator since they evidently only make it big when times are hard in the UK.
Their first gig in Sydney, Australia was on New Year''s Eve 1973 which does indeed give them a very heavy chart - a Capricorn Sun opposition Saturn square Pluto. So they are fitted for tough times. Their Sun trines an energetic Mars in Taurus; and Pluto makes a lucky trine to Jupiter Venus in Aquarius - both of which help to ease the bleakness of the Saturn Pluto square onto the Sun. I was trying to work out what is going on in his chart and decided it was probably his Solar Arc directions. His Solar Arc Saturn Pluto conjunction has been crossing his 2nd house Neptune (natally square his Sun) for the past two years - so it has the effect of Saturn Pluto on Sun Neptune which is very devastating. SA Saturn will be less than a sixth of a degree away from his natal Neptune on sentencing. His natal Neptune is very tied in by aspect to several of his key midpoints - Saturn/Node, Pluto/Node, Asc/MC, Mars/Pluto - which would suggest a risky lifestyle with losses along the way especially in clashes with authority. His Secondary Progressed Mars is also conjunct his Sun at the moment which is also keying up that natal Sun Neptune square.
His Solar Arc Uranus is within two degrees of his Ascendant from the 12th suggesting a major change of image though not admittedly pointing to a restrictive time ahead, quite the opposite - Uranus into the 1st is rebellious, freedom loving.
His birth chart does have a lucky Sun Jupiter trine (his get-out-of-jail-free card) and his Solar Arc Jupiter is at the moment opposition his Sun and about to sextile his natal Jupiter in 2009 which would usually indicate a) over confidence followed by b) a stroke of good luck. His natal Neptune is very tied in by aspect to several of his key midpoints - Saturn/Node, Pluto/Node, Asc/MC, Mars/Pluto - which would suggest a risky lifestyle with losses along the way especially in clashes with authority. His Secondary Progressed Mars is also conjunct his Sun at the moment which is also keying up that natal Sun Neptune square.
His Solar Arc Uranus is within two degrees of his Ascendant from the 12th suggesting a major change of image though not admittedly pointing to a restrictive time ahead, quite the opposite - Uranus into the 1st is rebellious, freedom loving.
His birth chart does have a lucky Sun Jupiter trine (his get-out-of-jail-free card) and his Solar Arc Jupiter is at the moment opposition his Sun and about to sextile his natal Jupiter in 2009 which would usually indicate a) over confidence followed by b) a stroke of good luck. His SA Sun is sextile that Jupiter in 2010 which is also more upbeat.
Though 2009 doesn''t look easy emotionally with Uranus into his 8th conjunct his Pisces Moon which will be deeply upsetting. But his really major headaches come with his Solar Arc Mars sextile his natal Uranus in 2010 which is insecure and in the following years 2012/15 his SA Mars is conjunct his natal Saturn Pluto which could be very suppressed indeed and risky.

Paul Newman, one of the Hollywood Greats has died at the age of 83. Best known for his co-starring role in Butch Cassidy with Robert Redford, he had become a top draw as long ago as the late 1950s in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Elizabeth Taylor and an illustrious screen career followed.
He was a 1st house Aquarius Sun square Saturn in Scorpio in the 10th so was a good executive organiser (Sat in 10th) often working behind the camera and despite his seemingly effortless performances always doubted his abilities (Sun squ Sat). His rather austere Capricorn Ascendant was softened by a conjunction with laid back Jupiter from the 12th and Mercury Venus in the 1st. Jupiter in the 12th gave him an inner peace and calm, while Venus in the 1st gave him a cool, sophisticated charm. Jupiter opposed his Pluto on the Descendant giving him the confidence and drive to counter balance Saturn''s self doubting tendencies.
What contributed to his great charisma and allure would be partly his Venus opposing a 7th house Pluto. And also his Neptune in Leo in the 8th. Sean Connery also shares a Venus Pluto hard aspect, a Scorpio Midheaven and an 8th house Neptune with PN. Neptune here can exude a mystique, project an image which is probably at variance with the reality of both their lives, but it certainly works on screen. His Scorpio midheaven was exceptionally heavily aspected with an exact sextile from Jupiter in Capricorn as well as from Venus and Mercury, a Saturn conjunction, Sun square, Pluto trine, trine Pisces Moon and widely trine Uranus. So his career/ life''s direction was helped by a good many of his planets.
His marriage to Joanne Woodward was one of the most enduring in Hollywood lasting fifty years. Their match was astrologically a good fit. His Pisces Moon fell close to her Sun, Venus in Pisces and his Sun in Aquarius although not conjunct carried the same energy as her Aquarian Moon. She also had a Capricorn Ascendant with Saturn conjunct from the 12th so was perhaps the more serious of the pair; she also has a 7th house Pluto and 8th house Neptune. So they were quite a matched pair. The composite chart has a Sun Moon conjunction which meant they felt more whole together with an affectionate Sun Venus conjunction. Neptune opposes the Sun Moon conjunction which can be vague, rather uncommitted in a relationship though the Neptunian movie business probably soaked up a good deal of what could have been a problematic energy. The composite chart also has an adventurous Mars Jupiter Uranus in Pisces so it would rarely be dull though possibly was argumentative at times. With Pluto trine Mars and Mars square Saturn in the composite there would be rough edges but clearly not enough to cause major trouble.
In the past couple of years on his Solar Arc Directions his SA Neptune was conjunct his natal Saturn bringing confusion and doubt, and SA Saturn was conjunct his Sun, curtailing his activities, presumably when the cancer diagnosis was made and his physical health started to deteriorate. He announced he was giving up acting in 2007.

Anthony Kiedis I confess I''d never heard of but from what little I could find he''s had heavy drug problems. He does have an exceptionally heavy chart - Mars in Leo opposition Saturn in Aquarius squaring on to Sun Neptune in Scorpio. So he had a really tough childhood (Sat Mars opp) with decidedly less than wonderful parenting from his father. Music was a godsend for him with Neptune on the point of a T square - an escape from the turmoil of his childhood. He will be paranoid (Nep squ Sat), insecure (Mars squ Nep), lost in unrealistic dreams and yearnings (Sun Nep on T square), feeling constantly disconnected which will be why he escaped into drugs (afflicted Neptune). But a focal point Sun is strong which helps as is a confident Jupiter opposition Pluto, and Jupiter opposition Uranus is lucky. Those who survive a messy childhood usually have strong Jupiters. And transitting Pluto sextiles that Jupiter through 09/10 which should give him a boost.
The only chart I could find with faintly similar overtones though in many ways it''s even heavier is Richard Dreyfuss, the actor. He has a Scorpio Sun opp Moon square Pluto (conjunct Mars Saturn) - with that poleaxing Sat Mars Pluto in Leo in the 4th. And Venus Mercury in Scorpio square Mars Saturn. He''s also got Jupiter in optimistic Sag widely trine Pluto. It''s not quite the same since Kiedis is so obviously directed towards music with his Neptune. But it does go to show that even the most difficult chart can be made to work.

George Michael is a reclusive 12th house Cancer Sun so does like his privacy despite his high profile career. With Jupiter in Aries in his 10th he''ll be successful in his career, gaining respect from his community. His midheaven is Pisces (on 6 am birth time) which suits a musical career. His Uranus, Pluto, Mars in Virgo conjunction in the 3rd give him a liking for walking on the wild and dangerous side. It will also give him dark thoughts and a fair amount of inner turmoil. This will be exacerbated by a Leo Moon opposition Saturn in the 8th square Neptune on the cusp of the 5th. His emotional life will be difficult to handle. He escapes into a dream world (or an addictive one) to escape his inner loneliness and sense of no-connection.
His quite ruthless though also highly frustrated Mars Pluto conjunction opposes the midheaven and squares onto Venus and Mercury in Gemini - so he appears light hearted, a social butterfly, in many ways superficial (emphasised Venus in Gemini) but in reality he is carrying quite a heavy burden. His Moon''s North Node in Cancer conjunct his Ascendant suggests to develop he needs a stronger sense of his own individual identity - he really doesn''t know who he is or how he appears to others; and he needs to become more emotional.
At the moment transitting Neptune is in his 8th conjunct Saturn this year which doubles up all his inner confusion and need to escape into dreams and drugs. Once Neptune clears Saturn by mid January 09 he''ll find life less disorienting and into 2010 Neptune clears his 8th house altogether which will help to stabilise him. There will be challenges and pressures in 09/10 with Pluto opposing his Sun both psychologically and physically. But he''ll be helped in 09 with Jupiter in his 8th which makes letting go the past and forming deeper bonds easier, and will bring money his way. 2011/12 could be even more successful for him by which time Pluto will have cleared a good deal of unwanted baggage out of his life.

David Blaine who is hanging himself upside down for 60 hours in New York at the moment says himself this is his most dangerous stunt. There''s no birth time for him which makes it tricky since I suspect like magician David Copperfield and psychic Uri Geller his house positions will be key to his personality and his talents. Copperfield is a Sun Virgo with Pluto Sun Jupiter in the 12th; and Uri Geller is a Sun Sagittarius with Uranus and NNode in the 8th trine a 12th house Neptune sextile Saturn Pluto on the midheaven.
Blaine is a charming Sun Venus in Aries and I suspect a late Aries Moon, with Pluto and Uranus in Libra across the zodiac though not conjunct. His Venus is opposition his Uranus/Pluto midpoint which gives him a constant longing for something new, different and adventurous. His Sun opposes Uranus so he''s an innovator, a rebel, an experimenter. He has an enthusiastic Mars Jupiter in Aquarius trine Pluto giving him determination and confidence; widely sextile Venus and the Sun giving him boundless enthusiasm. His Mars Jupiter is heavily aspected being sextile Neptune, trine Pluto, trine Saturn in Gemini, sextile Sun, Venus - so his abundance of energy and enthusiasm are clearly his driving force. Though he''s more of a worrier than he seems with Saturn opposing Neptune squaring onto a Pisces Mercury making him certainly imaginative, but also slightly paranoid and mentally highly strung.
Copperfield also has a heavily emphasised Mars Jupiter. His Mars opposes Jupiter and Sun squaring the midheaven.
Blaine''s lack of concern for physical dangers probably stems from his Fire Air chart. With five air planets and Sun probably Moon and two other planets in Fire - he''s off the ground, running on hot air, and not connected to his body or the material realm. He could have a Taurus Moon with a later birth time (after 11 am) but I can''t imagine a Taurus moon putting itself through all these deprivations. It would flag up warning signals at the foolhardy risks he runs.
At the moment his Solar Arc Neptune is sitting exactly conjunct his Capricorn North Node which might hint at one sacrifice too many. Transitting Saturn is square his Jupiter/Uranus midpoint over the few days of the stunt which might suggest it won''t be entirely successful but it may also just describe the rigours of his unnaturally stuck position. He''ll certainly be down into October but that may just be post-stunt glooms. Next year will find him on a high again as transitting Jupiter into Aquarius conjuncts his Mars Jupiter and aspects his Air and Fire signs positively.

Kenneth Branagh, the Belfast-born award winning multi-talented actor/director of stage and screen - known best for his movie adaptations of Shakespeare - who was the golden boy of the late 80s and early 90s is getting rave reviews for his performance in a Checkhov play in London''s west end.
An enthusiastic, and exceptionally hard working, rather private Sagittarius (Sun in 6th house) he doesn''t on the face of it have a hugely high profile chart. Though on closer examination (with the benefit of hindsight!) he has a Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Capricorn which is exceptionally well aspected. Jup Sat does occasionally move people onto iconic status - and certainly indicates a personality for whom ideals have as much importance as material gain. He needs to do what gives him meaning as well as earning an income. Interestingly Jupiter comes before Saturn by degree so he''ll get his good luck first and the setbacks come later. And his career did get off to a rousing start and he then retreated into a less obviously successful time. His 7th house Saturn Jupiter trine a 4th house Moon, Pluto, North Node in Virgo and sextile onto a 5th house Neptune forming a mini grand trine with Neptune on the focal point. The 5th house is very much the chart area of the entertainment business and Neptune rules both creativity and the movies - and that is where the focus of all that Jup Saturn and Pluto, Moon, NNode energy is funnelled.
He had an unsettled childhood in Belfast, moving to England when he was 9 to escape the Irish troubles then starting up in Belfast. This is well reflected in his Uranus in the 4th (= a disrupted home life) and Pluto in the 4th (= fear) as well as the Moon in the 4th (= affection for his roots). The North Node there suggests that sliding back into ambitions is easier for him that finding a contented family life as an adult. His awkward and tumultuous 4th house planets might have caused problems for him but since they are all well aspected - Uranus trines his Sun giving him an innovative streak and the ability to think out of the box; and the others focus very much on his creativity - so he is obviously to use the distractions and fears of a disrupted childhood to good end.
When he was the media darling and focus of clearly unwanted public attention, married to actress Emma Thompson, the triple conjunction of Saturn, Uranus and Neptune was moving through his 7th house crossing Jupiter and Saturn so it was always going to be a hugely difficult time relationship-wise. He was at his height with Saturn crossing his midheaven in 1994 when his acting/directed Mary Shelley''s Frankenstein came out just after his film Much Ado about Nothing. Award nominations and wins followed. He is now coming out of a brief lower profile time starting in 2003 as Saturn crossed his Ascendant, when he remarried. With Saturn now into his 4th he is obviously gearing up for a new cycle of energetic and successful work for years and years ahead.

An emotional and lucky Sun Cancer with a Water Grand Trine of Sun to Jupiter in Scorpio and a deeply buried 8th house Moon, he does attract good fortune but tends to live in his own dream world. The darker side of his personality and fate comes from a 10th house ambitious Mars in Gemini sextile a Saturn Pluto conjunction in Leo in the 12th and trine a 2nd house Neptune. He likes the pzazz of a showbusiness lifestyle, is vague about money, but more importantly is very controlling in a behind-the-scenes way (Pluto in 12th on point of fixed T square to Jupiter MC opposition) and bitter about the difficulties of his life, feeling the permanent outsider (Sat Pl).
What is clear, whether he is found guilty or not, is that his finances are in for a rough ride in coming years. Part of his defence is that he was trying to recover memorabilia stolen from him, but he''s also been keen to protect his assets from his murdered wife''s family who won a 30 million dollar civil suit against him. Transitting Saturn is heading for his 2nd house for three years from the end of 08 which is not only tight on cash flow, it is also a time when unresolved psychological issues surface - a low time. Transitting Uranus is also heading for his 8th house of joint finances for several years from this year end which is unstable where money is concerned and emotionally volatile. It will be especially noticeable as Uranus conjuncts his 8th house Moon in 09. His Solar Arc Saturn is within less than a degree of a conjunction to his 2nd house Neptune at the moment and that will stay for another year plus. His Solar Arc Neptune is opposing his 10th house Mars at the moment , pulling on the mini grand trine (Mars tr Nep sext. Sat Pl) which is panic-inducing.
He doesn''t have the heavy Pluto transits which I normally associate with a prison sentence but he''s certainly very unnerved and in a dip in the next few years.
