Palin also has a natal Sun, Mars, Saturn in Aquarius which will be further rattled by this coming Monday''s Lunar eclipse as well. Palin is not having a happy year with tr Neptune conjunct her Mars at the moment (= panic, failure), with tr Nep conj Mars/Saturn and then going on to conjunct her Saturn from March onwards (confused, anxious, neurotic).
Judd is an outspoken Sun, Mercury in Aries with cool, self reliant Venus Saturn conjunction also in Aries. Her determined Mars in Taurus squares Palin''s Sun and is fuelled up by a Jupiter square and Neptune opposition - so Judd likes crusading (Mars Jup) and is good at publicity (Mars Nep).

Sorry to dwell on a delicate subject. But that Church leaflet mentioned in the Palin piece below is more bizarre the more I think about it - pre menstrual tension is satanic???? Shades of the Middle Ages and burning witches at the stake. It''s soooo mysoginistic it screeches. And it does fit in with - Wasilla charges rape victims for the forensic investigation of their crime and forcing rape and incest victims to carry any resulting pregnancy to term. Which I think I remarked at the time is positively Saudi Arabian in its cruelty and insensitivity. Insensitivity hardly covers it.
It''s a brutal suppression of anything to do with the feminine or indeed to do with perceived weakness. These testosterone-fuelled Daddy''s girls are so damaged in their femininity they have to crush anything that reminds them of what they were actually born as. The feminine = the Moon = the body, mother.
Sorry to rehash old ground - but the Barracuda plays to win on a stress fracture! She goes into labour, delays to give a lecture, then flies for hours and then drives before delivering a baby. I''d almost have been inclined to believe that latter story was a fantasy but in the general context it''s almost believable. The woman isn''t super human, she''s inhuman. Certainly inhumane to herself and her own body. And there''s Mars Saturn for you - cruel and very negative masculine. She''s internalised and idealised the disciplinarian father.

Stories of Sarah Palin turning into a real ''diva'' in the words of one of John McCain''s aides certainly fit a powerhouse 5th house Sun, Mars, Saturn. Word is she isn''t listening to advice from anyone, is going off message and thinking she knows best.
There''s a decent piece in today''s Times gleaned from interviews with family, friends and a few who have run up against her in the past.

One described her as having a ''chameleon-like'' tendency ''She knows what people want her to be'' - Neptune squares? Plus a ferocious ambition and a vicious dislike of anyone in her power ambit who disagrees with her - they get the chop very rapidly.
Her father talks of giving her ''stern discipline'' in childhood - Mars Saturn! - hiking regularly in minus 20 to 30 degrees. He was clearly the driving force behind her much as was the case with Maggie Thatcher who idealised her father, had little to say of her mother. Both Thatcher and Palin have powerfully aspected Suns - MT has Sun Mars Jupiter Pluto, Palin Sun Mars Saturn Neptune - so powerhouse fathers. And both oddly have Moon Neptune Venus aspects suggesting a weaker, kind but unsubstantial mother whom they held in some contempt.

None of this adds up to a pleasant human being which is what her chart clearly indicates. One of John MCain''s snap decisions which could clearly have done with more reflection. I am almost feeling sorry for him - from all accounts he was actually a fairly honourable man at least by political standards.
His composite chart with la belle Sarah is also making more sense as time goes on. A Jupiter Pluto opposition usually brings one upmanship games and add Pluto into the mix and you have a power struggle that tends to turn nasty along the way. If by some outside chance they are elected it will be interesting to watch that one develop.

I''m not too sanguine about Sarah ''Palin'' unto insignificance. The chattering classes who read the Guardian and BBC news get a very different view from highly insular/provincial middle America who only see soundbytes on Fox TV - and the not inconsequential gun lobby - who have taken her to their heart. They voted GWB in twice for heaven''s sake. Mind you we put TBlair in three times so can hardly point fingers and Berlusconi is back in Italy. The mass mind can be impossibly unsightful and nowadays politics is a branch of the entertainment business.
I know what you mean James about her Neptune transits but she did get catapulted to world fame on a Neptune conj Sun which is normally an underminer. Liz Greene once said if you have a strong Neptune natally then Neptune transits sometimes have the opposite effect.
Barack Obama also has strong Neptune and he slid out from under the Pastor Wright and the property corruption guy scandal remarkably easily. Palin seems to be doing the same with little of the mud quite rightly being thrown at her sticking. It''s Neptune''s polished stone effect.
I wonder about Obama''s lack lustre performance since she blazed onto the scene. She is a hugely important relationship for him with her Sun Mars Saturn conjunction falling in his first house opposing his Uranus and her Uranus on his 7th house Pluto. And her in-your-face rottweiler approach hits him psychologically in his weakest place. He has a deeply buried Mars in the 8th trine a 12th house Saturn so is very out of touch with his own Mars Saturn energy, especially his anger. He also has a Moon square Pluto so is also specifically quite frightened of powerful women, despite having the feisty Michelle around. Her Uranus on his Pluto will also threaten to destabilise his measured, controlled approach.
Obama wanted to get away from old-style nasty politics and yet he''s faced with not just aggressive Palin but the perniciously vicious Republican smear-and-destroy attack machine.
Quite why he''s gone off form isn''t clear astrologically. He does have Pluto sextile Mercury/Saturn which can be discouraging but it''s been around since late July staying till late October and is relatively minor. He''s also at the same time got Pluto conjunct Neptune/Ascendant which is depressing and tends to attract smears. His Minor Progressed Saturn is also creeping closer to the exact opposition to his natal Pluto (exact on Election) which is rather trapping and stuck. But these are relatively insignificant influences.
On even more minor influences transitting Mars, Venus are in his 8th until late September which will make him more inward looking and rather stuck. And Mercury stays there till early November. The Sun will also be in his 8th till the final few days of October. So it''s all going to feel like wading through thick mud. From Sept 30th to Nov 2nd he''s got Uranus square Jupiter/Neptune which is coming down to earth with a bump to face reality, suddenly recognising a difficult situation. Where he starts to kick into better gear is in the final few days of the Election campaign with that lucky Uranus trine Jupiter/Pluto which brought him ahead of Hillary in the early stages of this year; plus Pluto conjunct Jupiter/MC from Oct 23rd across the Election.
Palin although jangled with Uranus conjunct Jupiter Saturn ( = emotional tensions, sudden change of circumstances) through September does also have Uranus conjunct Mars/Jupiter at the same time which is upbeat. Into October she has Uranus conjunct Sun/Jupiter which is successful. That disappears only two days before the Election. So it''s going to be a cliff hanger with Obama trailing right up to the last lap.
Two thoughts on McCain - 1. we haven''t seen much sign of the Uranus conjunct his Saturn which is around all this month - and he''s still got Saturn on his Neptune to come into October plus across the Election he''s got Pluto trine Mars/Neptune which isn''t good news. 2. His composite with Sarah Palin with a pushy Jupiter opp Pluto square Mars and wide aspects to the composite Sun is beginning to show its colours - with her getting much more attention than him. While she''s wakened up his chances I''d think that will start to grate.
I''ve never seen an Election with such muddled influences - all the candidates have good and not good influences, so impossible to disentangle.

Palin McCain From: Marjorie. (04 Sep 2008 09:45):
Sarah Palin''s nomination according to reports was at 9.31/2 pm which on CDT makes it a 3 Taurus ascendant on my calculation. Do correct me if I''m wrong. This gives a 16 Capricorn midheaven which is exactly where Jupiter is over end of Oct to 1st Nov 08 and is then firmly into the 10th house of this chart which would indicate success.
McCain''s effective nomination as GOB Presidential candidate came on March 4th which had Jupiter at 16 Capricorn. Having been retrograde Jupiter now gets back to that position exactly three days before the Election on Nov 4th. Transitting Jupiter then moves on to trine Uranus on the McCain Nomination chart from the 8th to the 13th November which is presumably when the results are through which is generally lucky. Though Uranus is also over the election back to its March 4th position at 18 Pisces and being opposed by Saturn which is less easy to quantify in terms of results. For McCain''s March 4th nomination there was also an exact Mars Pluto opposition at 0 degrees (Cancer/Capricorn) which is both ruthless and frustrating.
If Palin''s nomination is correct with a 3 Taurus Ascendant, then there''s an exact Sun Saturn conjunction in the 5th = very hard work, no fun, repressive for children. Though that Sun Saturn does trine a 9th house Jupiter which gives some balance, with the added extra of a global platform and travel. There''s a sharp tongued Mercury Mars conjunction, partially ameliorated by charming Venus and an opinionated 9th house Pluto - working relationships may not run that smoothly. A muddled 11th house with Neptune, NNode and Uranus suggests unclear plans for the future. An over confident might-makes-right Jupiter square Mars and Mercury will lead to bad judgements especially financially. A secretive 7th house Moon in Scorpio hints at vulnerabilities which will be kept well hidden with no signs that she is hurt by criticism.

What would he gain by not vetting? I gather McCain is known for his off-the-cuff decisions (Uranus square Mars?). One thought was McCain wanted Lieberman for VP while Karl Rove wanted Romney. Since for reasons unknown he couldn''t win that argument he went for the unknown on the list without checking too deeply. In modern politics everyone knows the media and the internet blogs will dig dirt. The downside of Sarah Palin at the moment is she''s creating a diversion away from McCain and the political issues. If she''d been vetted they might have 1) avoided her or 2) got a defensive strategy in place to circumvent the publicity or at least put the best spin on it. As it happens they seem to be stumbling on not knowing quite what is going to surface next.
No one is anything other than sympathetic about her daughter. But if you are in politics you know the family becomes part of your ambition package whether they want it or not. There''s also a sneaking thought that those who insist on sitting on the ultra high moral ground do set themselves up for a fall - indeed seem to attract it. The UK Conservative Government ways back set out a Back to Basics and family values campaign to revive their flagging fortunes - at which point several family scandals involving Cabinet Ministers fell out of the woodwork. For us lesser mortals who don''t wave the flag of high morality, an unwed teenage pregnancy would be just another of those things that happen in family life to be handled sensitively away from the public gaze. But Palin is trenchantly anti-contraception and anti-abortion, so presumably for ''sexual responsibility'' - and what happens? She gets the issue landed squarely on her lap in the full gaze of the world''s media no doubt to the acute embarrassment of her daughter. It''s almost karmic. Well afflicted Neptune anyways plus Mars etc.

McCain & Palin From: Marjorie. (01 Sep 2008 20:33):
Saturn crossed McCain''s Sun in mid July which can be setbacks and it is now sitting on his Sun/Neptune midpoint across the Convention (= chaotic conditions disappointments, scandals) and gets to the conjunction with his Neptune in early to mid October which isn''t helpful remotely for him. Plus Uranus is conjunct his Saturn from September 4th till 29th which could be an almighty jolt or a health warning.
Sarah Palin''s Neptune transits begin to make more sense since she''s clearly stepped into a swamp by being offered the VP running mate role - with her family and her past political affiliations and comments being picked over with a fine tooth comb. As of now transitting Neptune is conjunct her Sun and Sun/Mars mid point till mid September both of which are undermining, low energy, scandal and disappointment prone. Right now across the Convention transitting Saturn is conjunct her Uranus/Pluto (= exposure to extremely great pressure) and opposition Sun/Venus (= emotionally downbeat). And just when Uranus conjuncts McCain''s Saturn it also conjuncts her Jupiter/Saturn midpoint (= loss of job, sudden change of circumstances, strong emotional tensions). It isn''t beyond the bounds of possibility that 1) she gets tossed or 2) McCain has to withdraw and take her with him or 3) there''s continuing ruckus and uproar. One way of ''tother it''s going to be interesting to watch.
The McCain/Palin composite does have a Neptune trine Jupiter which is starry eyed and unrealistic, believing the best of the other which is perhaps also a hint of no vetting before he picked her. As well as a very stubborn Mars square Pluto.

I think it''s a strong streak of afflicted Uranian energy in her chart. A rather disconnected Uranus Pluto conjunction and all that Aquarius. Uranus is a maverick and can be a great reformer but its'' downside can be to go off in contradictory directions at once. She''s got Mars in Aquarius sandwiched between Saturn and the Sun and squaring Neptune - which is odd to put it mildly, hints of Tom Cruise in there. Her environmental beliefs are also very conflicted. Yes to drilling for oil, yet presumably loves the great outdoors and mother nature who produces such sport. Being responsible for her means being anti-abortion even for those who had utterly no choice about getting pregnant. Gets up to shoot moose at 3 in the morning with Daddy and is so competitive (''the Barracuda'') she plays sport with a stress fracture. The more you look at her biography the weirder she gets. She''s a holier-than-thou Christian at school yet elopes to get married, thereby denying her family the chance to be at the wedding. She''s riddled with double standards. A devoted mom who shoots back to work three days after giving birth.
Mind you it doesn''t mean that some of America won''t embrace her with open arms. But I do think her local political problem up and coming might well show her up in all her contrariness. Seems messy - firing a security chief for not firing her ex-brother-in-law and installing a replacement she knew was under sexual harassment charges who only lasted two weeks. There are hints of Margaret Thatcher here. MT was always squeaky clean at a personal level despite having some questionable aspects in her chart - but she was surrounded by a good deal of sexual and other scandal during her tenure because of those close to her. She didn''t live it but projected it out. I suspect this will happen here as well.
And McCain certainly has a tough furrow to plough through September/October.

She''s a horror the more I look at her. Against abortion even for rape and incest? Her general line on abortion is women should take responsibility for their bodies but being responsible for being raped? That''s positively Saudi Arabian. Her Mars in Aquarius is very afflicted and it can be exceptionally contrary if not downright perverse in my experience. She''s happy to see creationism taught in schools - what an oddity. Her views on environmental issues are all likewise very skewed and contradictory.
She has a very driven, very masculinised chart and she does compare herself to Margaret Thatcher, who also hopped straight out of giving birth into non-stop go, go, go. Both MThatcher and SPalin had exceptionally strong, hard driving fathers - MT had a Mars, Pluto, Jupiter father and SP has a Saturn Mars Neptune one. And as someone pointed out on ADB Palin''s North Node is in Cancer which is the feminine energy she''s supposed to be reaching towards and yet she''s sliding back into all the Capricorn stuff of outer ambition etc.
I think it will backfire badly on McCain who has handed away his one trump card against Obama - of lack of experience. And no one can possibly want what''s virtually a municipal politician that close to taking over the top job. It''s like the plot for a bad comedy movie. I reckon her Neptune transits may well yet prove to have a very undermining effect on her as the media gets to work.

McCain VP - Sarah Palin From: Marjorie. (29 Aug 2008 16:37):
At first glance the choice of Sarah Palin for Vice President seems an extremely smart move for McCain since she''s 1) young and female; 2) married to an Eskimo; 3)holds Republican-friendly views on abortion (against) and guns (for); 4) and is an outsider who stood up against ethics violations by other Republicans in the state of Alaska where she is Governor.
But looking at her chart I wonder. She''s an Aquarian with a Sun, Mars, Saturn conjunction so is one tough cookie, not quite the warm and cosy Mom the USA expects. Even Michelle Obama''s image will soften in comparison. Her Neptune in Scorpio does square her Sun, Mars, Saturn which mellows her slightly though gives her an unrealistic, none too straightforward streak. She either has a late Capricorn or early Aquarian Moon close to Mercury in Aquarius. But either of those Moons is still quite cool. Without a birth time it''s tricky to say but her chart seems quite disconnected. Her adventuruous Jupiter in Aries is sextile the Sun but aspects nothing else. Her rebellious Uranus Pluto conjunction in Virgo sextiles her Cancer Moon''s North Node and Neptune but none of the personal planets.
What is odd is that she has been handed this prestigious opportunity when transitting Neptune is exactly conjunct her Sun, not normally an ego-boosting combination. That sticks around till mid September 08, returning mid December 08 to mid Jan 09 which suggests this won''t be an altogether uplifting few months for her. Plus transitting Neptune will conjunct her Mars across the Inauguration which is even more low energy and discouraging. If by some wonder she does get in then she''s facing transitting Neptune across her Mars and Saturn through 09/10. She will have some encouraging, lucky breaks in October 08 with Uranus square Sun/Jupiter and Mars/Jupiter and she''s fairly gung ho come late November 08 with Pluto opposing Jupiter/Pluto.
Her interface with the US chart is not encouraging. Her Sun Mars Saturn in Aquarius falls close to the USA Moon - Sun Moon is a good bond but her Mars Saturn will not make the nation feel comforted remotely. They''ll find her hard edged, rather defensive and quite forbidding.
With John McCain - her Uranus Pluto conjunction is conjunct his Sun Neptune in Virgo so he''ll find her reforming tendencies jangling and disruptive and she''ll be irritated by his lack of realism. Her Sun is also widely in opposition to his Mars in Leo so it will be argumentative. The composite chart has a Mars Pluto square which is marginally softened by Jupiter opp Pluto square Mars - but it will be a fight for the upper hand behind the enthusiastic smiles.
