Prince Philip - old style grit From: Marjorie. (06 Feb 2009 16:24): Prince Philip is not in a great time just at the moment. His Solar Arc Mars is conjunct his Saturn which is fairly blocked and impatient. That may be partly why he has back problems from a carriage driving glitch - Mars Saturn tends to bring accidents or tensions. He''s also got transitting Neptune just off his Sun, Sun/Mars midpoint and heading for the trine to his Mars from mid Feb 09 onwards. Plus he''s got his 3rd Saturn return at the moment, exact again in March 09, which does hint at the need to be realistic about his age; plus tr Uranus opposing his Sun, Sun/Mars and heading for the Mars exactly from April onwards which is very jangled and insecure - and not good for heart problems. The Queen also has tr Neptune square her Saturn and midheaven which is anxious and rather discouraging.
But he is going to be 88 this June and HM is 83 this April - it''s amazing they keep up the punishing schedule they do at that age. They really deserve to retire though neither of them temperamentally would be good at sitting still.

Sweeping away the monarchy? You can''t actually want President Blair or Brown with the bearskin hats and ceremonial guard outside No 10?
Joking aside. The only time England (pre-Union) was a republican commonwealth was in Cromwell''s day from 1649 to 1661. On the England 1066 chart at that point there was a huge amount of astrological activity around the England Jupiter Saturn Moon''s North Node in Virgo. When Charles 1 was beheaded in 1649 and Cromwell took over for a few years of joyless rule, there was a transitting Pluto Saturn in Gemini opposition Neptune and Uranus in Sagittarius, hinting at the upheavals and destruction caused in those years. In 1649 tr Pluto was opp a tr Neptune Uranus conjunction square the England Jupiter. Pluto Jupiter (= might makes right), Pluto Neptune (= devastation, disorientation); Pluto Uranus ( = revolutions and upheavals); Neptune Jupiter ( = false happiness, impractical plans); Uranus Jupiter (= lucky breaks, tho'' can turn both ways). And tr Saturn was approaching an opposition to the England Uranus and just passed a square the England NNode (= jolting changes, fearful, counting the cost).
Then when Cromwell died, the Monarchy was restored and Charles 11 was crowned in 1661. Then the tr Pluto had reached the square to the NNode, just passed the square to Saturn. So tough times were almost over. Pluto on the NNode is either clearing out decay or sinking deeper into it. Charles 11 was known as the Merrie Monarch because of his indulgent lifestyle and perhaps as a reaction to the austere Protestantism of Cromwell''s years. Tr Neptune was also conjunct the England Sun and midheaven trine Jupiter in 1661 which suggests a degree of exuberance however unrealistic.
When Edward V11 abdicated in 1936, the most severe crisis the Monarchy had faced for centuries, the tr Saturn in Pisces opposition Neptune in Virgo square tr NNode in Sag was hard aspecting the England chart''s Jup Sat NNode in Virgo. So that does seem the key significator. It was severely rattled recently with the tr Uranus Neptune conjunction in Sag in the mid to late 1980s when Charles and Diana's marriage was crumbling.
There''s nothing like those influences coming up really before 2024 when the tr Neptune Saturn in Pisces will again hard aspect the England Jupiter Saturn NNode in Virgo. Interestingly that is when transitting Pluto just entering Aquarius will be square Prince William''s midheaven which can bring status crashing down. Pluto having just spent the previous years from 2012 squaring his Mars, Saturn and latterly Pluto in Libra, so he''ll have been through very tough times. Tr Uranus will also be in opposition to his Libra planets from 2012 to 2018 which will be insecure, disruptive and completely alter his lifestyle. Bernadette Brady remarks in The Eagle and the Lark that the Solar Eclipse around on the day of Prince William''s birth finishes its 1200 + year cycle in 2036. I''ve no experience of what this actually means in terms of events but it has been suggested he will be the last English Monarch. It''s certainly not a lucky eclipse series.

The House of Windsor may be rocked on its axis circa 2016 to 2018 as transitting Uranus squares and then Pluto opposes the UK 10th house Cancer Moon.
On the run up to that the transitting Uranus Pluto square will also be rattling Prince Charles 13 Aries Midheaven and 4th house Venus Neptune (14/16 Libra) so he''s in for a major change of direction 2015/2016 and an emotional upheaval.
And the Queen looks unsettled at the same time 2014/2015 as the Uranus Pluto square rattles her 6th house natal Pluto which will see her either with health issues or perhaps having to relax her obsessively conscientious grip on her duties.
These tumultuous influences will also be affecting Prince William who has a difficult Mars Saturn Pluto conjunction in mid to late Libra - so he''ll be under intense pressure through these years.


Royal Dilemma From: Marjorie. (01 Jun 2008 18:00): The Queen with a confusing, undermining Neptune squaring her Saturn on the midheaven at the moment till late June and returning in 2009 when it also picks up the debilitating square to her midheaven exactly for two years ahead is not having the happiest of times. Royal children and grandchildren are beginning to catch the headlines with increasing frequency. Princess Anne''s son Peter Phillips with his HELLO wedding raised a few eyebrows, as did the sale of Prince Andrew''s house to a Kazakhstan billionaire for more than the asking price; with ongoing rumours about questions within the Royal Firm about Prince William''s ''waitey'', hardly employed Katie and about Charles and Camilla.
The Queen''s Secondary Progressed Moon is in Leo now starting to pick up her central fixed T square of Mars Jupiter opposition Moon Neptune square Saturn MC over the next year which points to a hugely significant moment in her life. She''s had this Secondary progressed Moon return to this place twice before - once in 1953 when her father died and she was crowned Queen, and again in 1981 when Prince Charles married Diana Spenser apparently about to provide her with a stable successor.
It could point perhaps to a Prince William and Kate engagement/marriage, yet the composites between Kate and the senior Royals are hugely unsettled over this period. The Queen and Kate have a Sun Mercury opposition Pluto square Mars which suggests a power dominated relationship and that is being damped down, indeed separated by Saturn transits between now and August 08, getting aggravated in October and those influences remain on and off till mid 2009. The Queen at Prince William look to be discouraged with each other at the same time. There are also hints with the Queen and Kate of a one-upmanship struggle in mid June to late July and again in November 08(Pl conj Jup). Kate and Prince Charles also look thoroughly out of sorts with each other through mid June with heavy pressures through the rest of the year and upheavals in their relationship to come. Charles and William also don''t look to be seeing eye to eye with a downbeat Saturn square their Moon Jupiter opposition at the moment, as well as a disruptive Uranus opposition Pluto this year and a jolting Uranus opposition Saturn next. Though part of this may be difficulties in Charles making the adjustment to William''s increasing maturity and taking on an action man role.
One person who certainly will not appreciate having Kate in a heavyweight role in the Royal Family is the Countess of Wessex. With a Uranus square to the Sun and Venus in their composite chart this is a relationship to be held at arm''s length and with a close Mars Pluto conjunction as well there''ll definitely be rivalry.
The Queen is also having a hard time with Prince Andrew with Pluto squaring their composite Sun and Neptune through 08/09 - there''s a good deal of worry and confusion in there, intensifying through 09/10 as Pluto squares the Moon as well. Relatively similar influences seem to be afflicting all the composite charts: Charles and the Queen have an intensely emotional Pluto conjunct Venus in 08/09 bringing up difficult feelings between them; and Uranus opposing Neptune and square the Moon which will be upsetting, with emotional shocks and upsets this year.
There''s also a fair amount of stress in the composite charts of the Queen and Princess Anne - which shows anxiety this year but more major upsets through 09/10 (Uranus opp Nep, square Mars, square Sun Mercury); as well as Prince Edward - an irritable, frustrating Pluto sextile Mars (09/10) and Pluto square Neptune (10/11).
Camilla and Charles are not having their easiest year in 08 with Neptune opposing the composite Saturn which makes it tricky to work as a team where duties are concerned; with major disruptions from this year end as the transitting Saturn Uranus opposition picks up Mars and the Sun in their composite chart in 2009 which will bring a radical change to their lifestyle and relationship. There''s a challenging Pluto square Saturn between Camilla and the Queen through 09/10 (Pluto square Saturn).
All in all, they are either facing a major and anxiety-provoking challenge together or there are a variety of feuds and disappointments running severally. Perhaps both.

Queen Elizabeth/Philip Diamond Wedding From: Marjorie. (17 Nov 2007 14:22):
This coming Monday Queen Elizabeth 11 celebrates 60 years of marriage to Prince Philip. Although not a combination typically thought of as compatible - she is a steady, resolute Taurus, he is a restless Gemini - it was one of the top combinations found least likely to divorce in the Gunter Sachs study. His Venus in Taurus does fall close to her Sun which brings affection; and his vibrant, dynamic Sun Mars in Gemini falls in her fifth house which is also a romantic placing and he encourages her to share social and sporting activities. It also gives a strong interest in children. Though she would also see him as impulsive, demanding, a touch too much oriented towards pleasure. But luckily his Sun Mars in Gemini is trine her Mars Jupiter in Aquarius so there's a good deal of joint morale boosting and lively enthusiasm between them which helps smooth over the rough edges. Where it gets tricky is that his Uranus falls conjunct her Venus in Pisces so her emotional sensitivity would be upset by his abrupt absences and tendency to walk his own path. Both have Moon Neptune in Leo so are dreamers, good at avoiding facing what they don't want to see. Though the Queen's obsessively responsible Midheaven and Saturn in Scorpio squares his Moon so he'd feel pushed to one side often as duties got in the way of nurturing. His Jupiter Saturn conjunction falls in her 8th house which is a very contrary placing, good when it's good and cold when it's not. So the temperature in their marriage would be constantly fluctuating.
The composite chart, which tells of the 'third element' which is the relationship between them has a Sun Mercury opposition Jupiter which gives high ideals, a good deal of enthusiasm, an ability to see the bright side though at times also a competitiveness. Venus trines the Moon Neptune so there would be blissful moments and a good deal of easy communication. What is really difficult about the composite chart is a close Mars Saturn opposition which usually indicates a strong conflict between the two lifestyles and a relationship which tends to blow hot, blow cold with sporadic angry outbursts. It's quite a passive aggressive placing which usually breeds resentment on one side or the other over time. Given that this opposition is square Pluto it magnifies the clamped down sense of their relationship which in the tough times of their marriage must have felt like a prison. They were not of a generation and in a milieu where divorce was even remotely thinkable. Though it would have to be said a Royal relationship needs to have tremendous underlying endurance, stamina and grit to cope with the pressured goldfish-bowl lifestyle, which this Saturn Mars Pluto has in spades.
This inordinately difficult T square was severely rattled by the transitting triple conjunction in Capricorn in the late 10980s/early 1990s when the Royal children's marriages were in trouble. But it had also hit problems over the Queen's Coronation in 1953 and the years thereafter as Saturn Neptune in Libra square Uranus were around, putting the emphasis on duty, dampening fun and changing the balance of power between them. The 1980s would also be difficult as Pluto in Libra put exceptionally challenging circumstances their way personally in 1980 and 1981 over Prince Charles' marriage to Princess Diana as Pluto was conjunct the composite Saturn. There must have been more behind-the-scenes arguments than were obvious at the time.
The chart for their wedding (11am 20 November 1947, London) is extraordinarily heavy with an 8th house Pluto, Saturn, Mars conjunction opposition Moon square a 10th house Scorpio Sun. Whatever was going on below the surface certainly belied the cheerful, friendly Venus and Jupiter in the 11th. It is the chart of a project which would bring bleak bleak times, unbelievable stress and danger and need extreme determination to see it through for sixty years. The Sun in the 10th hints that keeping up appearances is a priority; career comes first and - with the Moon's North Node in the 4th - family and home life is the area of challenge to give it enough attention. What is eerie, though also indicative of astrology's ability to hit timings on the mark, is that the Secondary Progressed Mars on this wedding chart was on the exact station of moving retrograde when Princess Diana was killed in late August 1997. Robert Blascke says of this: 'Will and vitality are affected.' 'Individuals no longer know what they want out of life.' 'Tragically in some cases Mars retrograde coincides with some act of violence ….’ The Royal wedding in 1947 came 8 days after a Scorpio Solar Eclipse squaring Mars, Saturn, Pluto. This Eclipse oversaw the partition of Palestine with the start of hostilities between the Jews and Arabs; the messy and murderous aftermath of the partition of India which had occurred three months earlier, leading into the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi the following January. In the US the Un-American Committee were running rampage blacklisting Hollywood figures for Communist sympathies. It was a very tumultuous period and an ominous signature for the marriage to come.

British Royals From: Marjorie. (03 Nov 2007 15:37): The House of Windsor may be rocked on its axis circa 2016 to 2018 as transitting Uranus squares and then Pluto opposes the UK 10th house Cancer Moon. But I doubt if an Albanian Pretender to the Scottish throne will be the cause of it. There's a long history back to the 18th Century Bonnie Prince Charlie of claimants to the British/Scottish throne but all of them have been seen off. Prince Michael of Albania may be nice but he's probably all the nicer for not having been landed with the mind-numbingly boring life of a senior royal. The Queen seems to have sailed through her difficult Saturn square MC and all her fixed planets this summer without much being seen publicly. By late next decade if she's as stalwart as her mother, then Pluto will be heading for her Ascendant opposition her sixth house Moon's Node (with Uranus on equal house going into her 4th) so there'll be some sort of major upheaval. On the run up to that the transitting Uranus Pluto square will also be rattling Prince Charles 13 Aries Midheaven and 4th house Venus Neptune (14/16 Libra) so he's in for a major change of direction 2015/2016 and an emotional upheaval.And the Queen looks unsettled at the same time 2014/2015 as the Uranus Pluto square rattles her 6th house natal Pluto which will see her either with health issues or perhaps having to relax her obsessively conscientious grip on her duties. These tumultuous influences will also be affecting Prince William who has a difficult Mars Saturn Pluto conjunction in mid to late Libra - so he'll be under intense pressure through these years. Though he'll also be having a major struggle about his ambitions, life's direction and closest emotional relationships through the next three years as well, as Pluto opposes his Sun, then his Sun/Moon midpoint and then his Moon right up till 2011.

Present Influences: The Queen’s chart is labouring under heavy transits at the moment and over the next couple of years, with signs of a major upheaval through 2007. All the major Royals’ charts are stressed suggesting more is going on than has hit the public prints yet. Saturn was in opposition to her Mars in mid September 06 which can be accident prone, or suggests setbacks. Then it moved on to conjunct Neptune and oppose Jupiter in the first half of October, which brings a sober facing up to an unwanted reality, damps enthusiasm and confidence, and produces anxiety. Saturn then continues to square Saturn and her Midheaven in November and December which will bring career setbacks and a shift in her responsibilities. A good deal of rethinking will be going on behind the scenes. These dreary influences run backwards and forwards through January, February, June and July of 2007.

Pluto picks up the square to her Uranus from late December 06 for a year bringing a total transformation and radical changes. Some of this may involve an enforced financial restructuring but it will also have a major impact on other areas of her lifestyle, friendships and future plans, and can be stressful. Uranus also trines her 6th house Pluto for the final time in January which brings new understandings about her health and the need to make changes. As if that wasn’t enough Neptune then conjuncts her Mars from late February 07 which usually brings an undermining sense of failure or a realisation that certain plans won’t work out, and is good for neither confidence nor energy. It then continues to conjunct Neptune and oppose her natal Neptune through 2007 and 2008 which will bring confused judgement, a lack of realism. Into 2008 Neptune squares her Saturn which is also disorienting and again distorts her sense of reality, as well as squaring her midheaven, which is not good for career success. Saturn is heading for her 8th house from mid 2007 onwards for two years which will either bring financial cutbacks or a sense of isolation. Pluto moves into her 12th house from 2008 onwards which is a heavily psychological influence lasting for some years, making her feel she has less overt influence. With her Progressed Moon in her 7th house for two years she’ll need the support of close partners and feel any lacks more keenly. On the upside Jupiter going through her 10th till mid 2007 will bring popularity and a feeling of being appreciated, with more friends around for a year after September 07, and renewed confidence from mid 2008 onwards as Jupiter crosses her Ascendant.

OTHER ROYALS: The other major Royals – Prince Charles, Prince Philip, Princess Anne all have 22 degree fixed Suns or Moons which were similarly squelched by Saturn in mid October and will continue to be under a rather dark cloud through 2007 as the disorienting Saturn opposition Neptune continues to throw plans into confusion and cause worry.

Prince Philip: 10 June 1921, 9.46 pm, Corfu, Greece. If his birth time is accurate then Saturn was conjunct his 22 Leo Moon in October making him feel cut off from feminine support and can have phsycial effects in lowering energy. He’s already been through a highly stressed patch recently with Pluto opposing his Mars since early 2005 till November 06 which brings major frustrations, impatience and circumstances beyond his control. Saturn will continue to damp his feelings and possibly damp his energy through this winter to mid 2007. And from May 2007 Uranus will oppose his Saturn bringing jolting changes and strain till March 2008. Into 2008 Uranus squares his Sun which again is about disruptive changes and stress. His relationship chart with the Queen is being undermined through this year with Neptune opposing the composite Moon Neptune conjunction, bringing sympathy but also anxiety and confusion. Saturn squares the composite Sun and Mercury through November and December 06 and again July 07 which can bring a sense of separation. Uranus is conjunct the composite Uranus through 2007 so the basis of their relationship will shift fairly radically.

Princess Royal: Princess Anne has a 22 degree 10th house Leo Sun which Saturn was conjunct in october 06 and backwards and forwards through till mid 2007 which brings a heavier sense of duty and responsibility and some setbacks. Neptune opposing her Sun in 2007 will be undermining, not good for confidence or fast progress, possibly because of family worries with Neptune transitting her 4th house. Uranus is also opposing her dutiful Virgo Moon, Saturn and Mercury in Virgo, through 2007 bring jolting emotional changes, involving her family or her mother. She may be taking on more duties in the years ahead to 2012. Her relationship chart with the Queen is under stress this year and next with Pluto conjunct the composite Mars at 26 Sagittarius and opposition the Sun, Mercury at 26 Gemini so December will be a fraught month, as will July to November 2007.

Prince Charles: Charles also had Saturn transitting his first house square his 4th house 22 degree Scorpio Sun in October 06 and again until mid 2007. He would feel cut off from family support and feel that a great deal was being expected of him. Facing reality is always a necessity with Saturn. Though with it transitting his first quadrant until 2012 he is not in a high profile, ambitious phase of his life. He’ll be pushing against the grain taking on heavier responsibilities at a time when he’d much prefer to back off. Saturn heading for his second house from mid 2007 onwards suggests a shortage of money or a certain amount of financial restructuring being necessary. Neptune will sextile his Mars through 2007 which is never confidence boosting and may affect his relationship with his children and damp his social life. Though Jupiter in his 5th through 2007 will help to give him a more positive approach. 2008 is a year of dramatic change for him as Pluto opposes Uranus and conjuncts Jupiter. There will be inevitable upheavals with Pluto Uranus though some will bring rising confidence and power with Pluto Jupiter. However Uranus also squares his Mars in 2008 which can be over excitable, leading to insecurity and none-too-wonderful judgement or decisions. He could be accident prone in 2008. His relationship with Camilla is under pressure in December 06 and July to November 07 as Pluto opposes the composite Uranus bringing huge changes to their lifestyle. Uranus also conjuncts the composite Mars in 2007 with moments of explosive honesty, and a rather jangled mood. Saturn is also conjunct the composite Saturn at 22 Leo in October and again through till mid 2007 which will face them up to a sober assessment of where they are at and what they need to do in terms of duty. Saturn is conjunct the composite Venus in August 07 which is always chilly, and then Saturn in Virgo squares the composite Moon and Jupiter, damping their enthusiasm into 2008. Camilla, like Charles has a Leo Ascendant, and is in a phase of her life where she does not wish to be too public or too driven by outer responsibilities. She was feeling especially insecure, rattled by sudden events in october 06, and again in December.

Prince Andrew: The Queen’s favoured son Andrew, has Saturn square his 25 degree Scorpio Moon in November and December and again mid 2007 which suggests a separation from mother figures or a sense of lack of support. Though being a 4th house Moon it could also involve his father, whom he found a supportive figure in childhood. Neptune opposes his Uranus in 2007 which is worrying, and Uranus is conjunct Mercury which will bring outbursts of heart felt feelings. However with Pluto conjunct his fifth house Jupiter through 07 and 08 he will also be confident socially and in public, finding more appreciation coming his way. Uranus also sextiles his Saturn in Capricorn suggesting a shift in his public duties in 2007.

UK: The UK national chart with its 10th house Cancer Moon has always symbolised a country at ease under a female monarch with a history of stablising and long lived queens being the most renowned of all the monarchs through the ages - Queen Elizabeth 1, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth 11. In 2008 with Uranus trine the 19 degree Cancer Moon, there will be a sudden shift in the country’s sense of who is their symbolic head. It may not be a total changeover since it’s an easy aspect so could just be a partial shift. When Queen Victoria died the Saturn Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn was heading for the opposition to the 10th house Moon. This is not nearly as strong an influence but it does suggest the Queen will step down her duties considerably.

Queen Elizabeth 11 Chart: A serious, practical, rather austere Capricorn ascendant and obsessively dutiful Saturn in Scorpio on her midheaven suggests a personality set in the ways of responsibility and discipline from an early age. But it belies another more mischievous side to her nature. She has an earthy, nature loving Taurus Sun but situated in her 3rd house it gives her a bright, inquiring mind, a ready wit and the ability to accumulate a vast range of knowledge across a wide spectrum. Her enthusiastic Mars and Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius give her also a wide ranging tolerance of people from all backgrounds and countries, making her an ideal Head of the Commonwealth. A fun loving Venus Uranus conjunction in her 2nd house suggests she loves having beautiful possessions and spending money, but also hints at a romantic, not always conventional streak. Her renowned vague emotional responses to her childrens’ marital difficulties stem from her Moon close to uncertain Neptune, tied into a T square of Mars Jupiter opposition Moon Neptune square Saturn. Her own emotional patterning set by her mother was one of confusion. The Moon Neptune mother does not give clear signals and the child finds it difficult to sort out what really are her own feelings. Moon square Saturn is a cool, disciplinarian mother. Moon opposition Mars and Jupiter is a mother who squashed her anger and her natural assertiveness, and smothered her at times in sugary sweet compliments which never felt quite genuine. Little surprise that she had no stable emotional basis from which to approach her own children. With her Moon’s Northe Node in Cancer he challenge in this lifetiume was to develop a more feminine, caring side which is perhaps evident in her obviously supportive relationships with her grandchildren. Her water grand trine of Saturn Midheaven in Scorpio, Uranus Venus in Pisces and Pluto, Moon’s Node in Cancer make her emotionally self protective, living in an inner world of feelings which she rarely exposes even to those close. It makes her difficult to know well and can also cut her off at times from reality since she will retreat into what brings her comfort. Pluto in the 6th house gives a dour determination about work especially in trine to Saturn, and a need to look after her physical health.
