An Aries Sun, Libra Moon and Pisces Ascendant make for an individual who appears kindly and sympathetic, slightly vague, but has Aries fiery drive, can be hasty and none too diplomatic, yet has immense charm in close relationships. It is a strangely untogether chart in comparison to the strong, spiritually ambitious chart of his predecessor Pope John Paul II. Benedict’s Saturn in Sagittarius in the 9th will be what brings his rigid philosophical and theological beliefs, his strict moral admonitions to others. His ambition lies more in being regarded as an intellectual authority than as a power figure or person of great influence. This position of Saturn can bring intellectual pride and narrow mindedness. His personal reputation will be important to him and he will be resentful if he feels he is being treated unjustly. His indulgent Venus in Taurus is opposed by Saturn so he will clamp down on temptations. Venus is his only earth planet so he will not always be worldy or practical, unlike Taurean John Paul. His Jupiter, Mercury and Ascendant in Pisces will give him a slightly misleading image of softness and compassion on first meeting. The Ascendant is the mask worn for the outside world. But with Uranus also in his first house in Aries he will also be determined to walk his own road, and can be intolerant, as well as disliking compromise. In his domestic surroundings with Mars and Pluto in the 4th, he will be impatient and controlling. His great friendship with Pope John Paul may be one manifestation of his 7th house Libra Moon. He needs partnership for security. Neptune in the 6th will have inclined him to devote himself to the spiritual life of service to others though it can also bring delicate health. With a Moon’s North Node in Cancer, his challenge in life is to develop a more feminine, caring, family oriented approach.

Influences: Continuing on from 2004 Uranus will be square Saturn for the final time in late October and November 2005 which will bring jolting changes, causing him to question certain of his beliefs and teachings. Neptune is trine his Moon for the final time through October to mid November 2005 which could be low energy and undermining to certain close associations. Though it will also soften his approach. Pluto is trine Neptune through 2005 until the end of the year which will at times be disorienting, causing some confusion though it can also bring enlightenment. If his birth time is absolutely accurate Pluto crosses his Midheaven from early 2006 onwards as it also trines his Aries Sun. This can bring a complete transformation of his hopes and ambitions. For some this can mean disaster but for others, if they are on the right path, it brings more influence. He will attempt to exert even tighter controls. From April 2006 till February 2007 Uranus will trine his 4th house Pluto so he will be undergoing a time of emotional or domestic upheavals, though much of it will be hidden from public view. He may have greater insights into his compulsive need to be in control of his feelings and his intimate surroundings. Saturn moves into his sixth house from mid 2006 for a couple of years which can be exceptionally hard working or bringing health problems. From late 2006 to July 2007 Saturn will criss cross his 6th house Neptune bringing worries about his physical fitness. Then Pluto heads for the difficult opposition to his Mars through 2008 which will be a time of immense frustration and strain emotionally and in terms of his ambitions in the outside world.
