Jamaica - biting the hand that feeds you

The violent and messy situation in Jamaica with 30 now dead becomes murkier by the moment. The drug gang that is now at a bloody standoff with security forces was openly used by the island's ruling party to bring supporters to the polls and intimidate opposition voters in elections three years ago.
Past governments seem to have been no better than this one at keeping their hands clean. It was a trade off where the drug dons would fundraise for campaigns. The politicians would promise contracts and turn a blind eye to their drug-trafficking activities. What seems to have brought this to a head was the increasing power and influence of Dudus Coke, the drug lord, which brought American pressure to bear (see below).
The present Prime Minister Bruce Golding (5 Dec 1947) is an upbeat Sun Jupiter in Sagittarius in a pushily confident, controlling trine to Pluto so cutting corners would suit his style. His Mars in Virgo squares Jupiter making him not always fussy about his methods. His Premiership chart (11 Sep 2007) reeks of - a)instability; and b)of power hungry ruthlessness. There's a Virgo New Moon opposition Uranus square Mars opposition Pluto and Jupiter. Such a high-wire chart with Pluto Mars Uranus Jupiter Sun all tied together was bound to explode at some point along the way.
The Premiership chart has a very stuck tr Saturn square Solar Arc Pluto now with tr Uranus returning to that square perhaps with de-stabilising momentum in the autumn. Golding's own chart is showing the strain of a trapped, high risk tr Pluto sextile Solar Arc Mars through 2010/11. If he does survive in power through this year, he'll almost certainly over step himself in 2011 as his SA Jupiter opposes his Pluto and is then due for a cataclysmic 2012 as his SArc Uranus is conjunct his Mars.
